Testimonials from Past Volunteers
This is Rebekah's mother. She is having a blast. I truly expected for her to be totally frustrated for about two weeks given her lack of Spanish. Thank you and Molly for all you have done to get her properly settled!

By far the best trip of any kind that I have experienced. Thanks very much!

The home-stay families in Nicaragua are so welcoming. I will never forget the first day that we met our home-stay mom. She had a huge smile on her face and treated us like we were her children. She was thrilled to have us in her home and always made sure we felt comfortable. Upon leaving, it was like saying good-bye to a family-member. I also won't forget how amazingly kind they were to make us three meals a day - I never get that in the U.S.!
I loved the excursions. They were so worthwhile and really made you appreciate the non-touristy, real Nicaragua. Travel Alive takes you on excursions to places like La Casita, the churches of Totogalpa, coffee farms, and more. We even went to the home of a woman from Totogalpa and watched her make her famous "corn-husk dolls" that are very popular in Ocotal.

My family was wonderful! Especially in the first weeks when I couldn't communicate with them at all! They were always so patient with me and ready to help whenever I needed it.

My son Zac, age 12, and I had a wonderful time in Ocotal. He is determined to go back some day, and I am hoping the whole family will be able to go to Ecuador in a couple of years. Thanks for making the opportunities available to us!

Overall I loved the program I like that it is relatively small and I can talk to Tom and Molly first hand. I also really like that the intent is not to take our money instead is to give people the opportunity to widen their perspective and learn about a different country and culture. Excellent keep it up.

A great first venture into a third world country, another language and international volunteering and travel. Lots of support and structure, and plenty of fun to be had.
